When your workforce are in a situation where someone displays a heightened emotional state of distress, agitation, anger, or over-shares personal information, they may not be equipped with the skills to best manage the situation?
The Accidental counsellor role is when we’re put in the position of helping others to cope with their feelings without having the professional training or qualification to support them. This is a role many frontline employees find themselves in regularly while supporting their clients with more complex mental health barriers and trauma. Over the last 20 years of working in collaboration with frontline employees we’ve also seen high levels of burnout from exposure to the impact and traumatic experiences that their clients with complex barriers often present with.
It is important for organisations to support the wellbeing of their team members when working in challenging frontline roles.
How do your employees manage their reactions and emotions and overall wellbeing while at the same time maintaining boundaries within their role in a respectful and professional manner?
The Accidental Counsellor training workshop is a practical training programme which will provide a forum for your team to connect, engage and experience validation and some normalisation in context to their current experiences. It will also skill them with practical tools to enhance their coping capabilities and strengthen resilience, mindset and their self-care so they can focus on continuously providing quality care to their clients.
